Macleod Provinvial Park is a must-see for anyone visiting Geraldton. The park is home to greenstone, a type of rock prized by Aboriginal people for its beauty and spiritual significance. The park has lots of very large sites with plenty of wooded privacy and few are also pull through sites in the loop with electricity. Beautiful non hydro sites right in the water offer excellent views. Kenogamisis lake is huge with many arms reaching out so if you fish, canoe, kayak this would be a heavenly place to spend a summer. A great place for get-together.

Pakwash Provincial Park is a hidden gem in the Northwest Territories. Pakwash Provincial Park is located 19 km north of the town, and is home to a 1.5 kilometer long sand beach, campgrounds, nature trails and aboriginal rock paintings. There are also plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching, as the park is home to a variety of species of birds and animals.

Situated on the shores of Pakwash Lake, the park offers a variety of landscapes to explore, from forests to wetlands. Riding Mountain National Park is the perfect place for a day trip if you're in Manitoba. The park has a great clear lake with the clearest water I believe in North America, and it's also got some great camping sites, where you can enjoy black bears and all sorts of other wildlife.

The little town Center along the clear lake has some nice restaurants, café and bakeries, souvenir shops and clothing stores. Some stores are very cute. You can also swim, kayak and canoe there, as well as barbecue. There are a few very good hiking trails that wind through the forested hills surrounding the lake.

Terrace Bay Beach is a serene beach on the north shore of Lake Superior, holding a beautiful view of the Slate Islands Provincial Park and the river mouth of the Aguasabon Falls. Terrace Bay Beach offers a kayak/canoe launching platform, river access docking with a 3 ft. draft, overnight docking, picnic tables and bathroom facilities. Camping is not permitted on or around Terrace Bay Beach.

With its turquoise waters and white sand, it's no wonder that terrace bay beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. But there's more to terrace bay beach than just its looks. The waves here are perfect for surfing, and the reef just offshore provides an excellent opportunity for snorkeling. Kayaking and fishing are also popular activities, and there's even a zip line that runs through it.

Sioux Lookout is home to many beautiful beaches, but Farlinger Town Beach is definitely one of the most popular among tourists and locals alike. In December, the lake will be frozen. The township actually plows off a couple of sections for ice skating and even a tiny skate trail to the docks. The skate trial is a little bumpy, so it's not the best for figure skates but you can skate on it fine with hockey skates. The Pelican after, they have some of the best sandwiches the town has ever had!

Farlinger Town Beach

Pakwash Lake Beach is the perfect place for you to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Ear Falls, Ontario. With its crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches, this beach is a great spot for swimming, fishing, and boating. The location also makes it ideal for camping, as there are many spots to set up your tent or just enjoy the scenery with your family and friends.

Lofquist Lake Beach is located Nipigon in Ontario’s Superior Country. This is a sandy/pebbly beach on the shore of Lofquist Lake. You can find this beach by turn up Cameron Falls Road off of Highway 11/17. The water is refreshing on a hot summer day and offers a floating dock to swim out to lounge on or jump off. There is a playground, benches, and changing facilities.

Garrow Park Beach is located on Rabbit Lake at the end of Birchwood Crescent. There's a beautiful beach, washrooms, tennis courts, a playground, docks, and a picnic area. The Kenora Rowing Club is also located on Rabbit Lake. The Rabbit Lake Trail System starts at the top of the park. It includes the main trail and several feeder trails.

There are many activities you can do while visiting Garrow Park Beach including hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching or just relaxing with your family or friends! You can even bring your own boat!

One of the best kept secrets along the North Shore of Lake Superior is Schreiber Beach. This pebble beach is located on the shores of Lake Superior, apart of Schreiber, Ontario. It is a perfect area for a picnic and a swim. The beach offers scenic views of the natural landscape that truly makes it Superior!

To find this secretive beach, ask a local or proceed to the downtown area, pass through the CPR underpass and turn right immediately following the underpass. Dryden ski hill is a great place to enjoy the winter season. It features several beginner and intermediate trails that are perfect for those new to skiing or snowboarding. And for those looking for a challenge, the Dryden ski hill also has a few expert-level trails. Dryden ski hill is also known for its scenic views, which include the nearby Dryden Lake. 

Dryden ski hill is open from early December to late March, and it offers a variety of activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Dryden ski hill is the perfect place to enjoy a winter day with family and friends.

Cross Country Ski Trails in Ear Falls is a great place to explore the outdoors in the winter. Cross-country skiing on groomed trails, ice fishing, snowshoeing and winter camping are popular winter activities. More than 40 km of groomed cross-country ski trails start and finish at the same parking lot. Four colour-coded loops are 2.5 km to 19 km long and graded for novice to experienced skiers.

An 8-km trail has been groomed specially for skate-skiing. Skiers can warm up at huts, which each have a stove and stock of firewood, along the trails. Winter campers can rent one of three yurts, located just off of the ski trails.

The Sleeping Giant is a great place to hike, whether you're a seasoned hiker or just getting started. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even camp overnight on the giant's head! Whether you're looking for a challenging hike or just want to enjoy some stunning views, the Sleeping Giant is sure to please.

The Nipigon River Recreation Trail is a popular destination for hiking and biking. The trail winds its way along the Nipigon River, offering breathtaking views of the river and the surrounding landscape. The trail is well-maintained, offering a variety of scenic vistas. It is also a great place to see wildlife, as the Nipigon River is home to many species of birds and animals. Whether you are looking for a challenging hike or a leisurely stroll, the Nipigon River Recreation Trail is sure to please.

The trail is a (10.1 km) point-to-point trail that connects the townships of Red Rock and Nipigon. Experience the shoreline of the Nipigon River and along Nipigon Bay on Lake Superior, the world’s largest freshwater lake. If you don’t have much time, consider taking a shorter (1.6 mile/2.6 km return) hike starting at the Red Rock trailhead to the viewing platform at Lloyd’s Lookout, then hike a few minutes further to relax in the Parks Canada red chairs (which are free!). Or start at the Nipigon Marina trailhead and 1-2 miles of flat terrain along the edge of the Nipigon River.

The Seine River greenway is a long-distance trail that runs along Winnipeg's downtown riverbank and the St. Boniface side of the Red River. The Seine River greenway offers an opportunity for Winnipeggers to experience nature in the heart of the city, with views of the river and its wildlife, as well as many other amenities along the way. 


The trail itself is made of crushed gravel and grass, so it's not as hard on your joints as asphalt or concrete would be. There are several places along the route where you can stop for a picnic or take a break from your hike—including parks, playgrounds, and beaches.

Seine River Greenway

Sioux Mountain Trail Hike is one of the most popular Sioux Lookout trails. The trail is approximately 3 miles long and offers breathtaking views of Sioux Lookout. There are also several benches along the way, providing a perfect opportunity to take a break and enjoy the scenery. Sioux Mountain Trail Hike is a must-do for anyone visiting Sioux Lookout.

Google maps directions do not take you to the hike location. To get to the trailhead drive down Hudson Highway turn right down Pelican Falls Road. The road splits in a Y and the pavement ends. Stay to the right & continue on the unpaved road. The road is not in good condition & is not recommended for non-SUV, truck, or 4x4 vehicles. Drive until you reach a gate on the right that indicates Private property. Park here & do not block the gate. The trail continues up a single track unpaved road. The trail is unmarked. Eventually you will reach signs indicating Lookouts to the West & East. Pick one & enjoy the truly spectacular views from the mountain top! The trail is of moderate difficulty and takes approximately 1 hour to reach the summit.

For the outdoor adventurer in you, Laura Howe Marsh Conservation Area is a great spot to explore. With a variety of flora and fauna, this small conservation area is an excellent place to get away from it all.

Laura Howe Marsh has two trails: a short loop (0.4 km) and a long loop (2 km). The short loop, which is 0.4 km in length, takes approximately twenty minutes to stroll. You will be able to walk the long loop, which is 2km in length, in approximately one hour. Take time to enjoy the marsh from the viewing platforms.

If you need help deciding which one to take, we recommend starting with the short one first—it’s only 20 minutes long!

Directions:  Approximately 40 km northeast of Nipigon on Highway 11 turn right at the blue and white highway sign identifying the trail entrance. The parking area is located 200 m from the highway.


Palisades Hiking Trail

Pakwash Provincial Park is a nature lover's paradise. Situated on the shores of Lake Pakwash, the park offers a variety of trails to explore. The Pakwash Ear Falls trail is a popular choice for hikers, as it offers stunning views of the falls. The trailhead is located near the Pakwash Visitor Centre, and the hike takes approximately two hours to complete. 

Cross a marsh, pass a beaver pond and walk through woods along this nature trail. Nine interpretive stops along the way explain the flora and fauna.
For those looking for a longer adventure, the Pakwash Discovery Trail winds its way through the park for 9km. This trail takes hikers through a variety of landscapes, including forests, meadows, and wetlands.

Mazukama Falls is one of the most beautiful and popular tourist attractions in the Nipigon area. Mazukama Falls is approximately 30 meters high and flows over a series of small cliffs into a pool below. The Mazukama Falls trail is an easy 1.5 kilometer hike that takes you to the base of the falls. Mazukama Falls is a popular spot for swimming, picnicking, and photography. Mazukama Falls is open year-round and is free to visit.

The trailhead for this short but challenging hike begins at the parking lot located about 2 kilometers south of Highway 17 on Thunder Bay Road (Highway 638). From there it's just a short walk down to where you can see the falls from above before heading down onto their bank for some swimming or just taking in nature's beauty up close!

Mazukama Falls

When you're looking for a hike that feels like it's straight out of a storybook, look no further than Rainbow Falls Trail. This 13-km out-and-back trail near Schreiber, Ontario is great for birding, camping, and hiking—and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

A series of stairs and platforms follow Rainbow Falls down to a sturdy bridge over the cascades. The trail then leaves the river and climbs to a lookout overlooking The trail ends on the second scenic lookout, after which point it continues onward as the Schreiber Channel Segment of the Casqule Isle Hiking Trail.

The Casque Isles hike is how hikers should acquaint themselves with the beauty of Northwestern Ontario and especially Lake Superior. The beaches on the Lyda Bay section are definitely a must see for any travelers taking Trans-Canada Highway 17.
The trail is crosses marsh, hills, boulders, glacial deposits, and beaches, sometimes all in one day. 

Apart from that, people have repeatedly noticed tracks for wolves and moose in portions of the trail. Knowing the environmental hazards, and that the trail is volunteer maintained, we would suggest that hikers never travel alone and avoid some sections in adverse weather. Those disclaimers (challenges!) aside, anyone who enjoys hiking in the outdoors and is in Northwestern Ontario, you will not regret doing this trail on a sunny day.

They have exclusive access to over 130 square kilometers of highly productive land at the doorstep of the camp, and take careful stewardship of this land very seriously. They offer Fall bear hunting only. All baits are active weeks prior to the hunter's arrival. They will discuss in detail with each hunter the patterns and habits of each bait site. Ladder stands and/or platform stands will be at each site, but if you desire you may bring your own. Black Bears in the area are known to exceed 500 pounds and occasionally color variations such as cinnamon bears and chocolate bears are harvested. They only take a limited number of hunters so be sure to book early!
